Spice Up Your Summer with “Hawaiian Burgers”!

McDonald’s is launching the limited-time ‘Hawaiian Burgers’ starting July 24, 2023. Alongside their renewed classic menu items, you can enjoy some new flavors. We tried them out right away, so here’s our rundown and review of each burger.

Chunky Potato & Beef with Black Pepper Cream Cheese Burger

A thick 100% beef patty topped with crispy potato patty, accented with black pepper cream cheese sauce. Sandwiched in a fragrant bun, this burger offers full satisfaction.

Review

Lately, there’s been a trend of adding potatoes to burgers. We tried it and our reaction was just “meh.” I’d give it 55 points, and my wife gave it 60 points. If you really want to put potatoes in it, maybe replacing the patty with Spam would make it more Hawaiian.

Cheese Loco Moco Burger

A 100% beef patty layered with rich cheddar cheese and an egg, inspired by Hawaii’s famous “Loco Moco.” The special Hawaiian BBQ sauce is fruity and spicy.
Single: ¥530~
Value Set: ¥830~

Review

It’s a simple take on Loco Moco, and it’s my favorite among the Hawaiian Burgers released this time. It was tasty. However, my American-born wife thought it could have had more Hawaiian elements. I’d rate it 70 points, and my wife gave it 55 points.

Garlic Shrimp Burger

A shrimp cutlet with a crunchy coating, paired with a spicy sauce featuring the texture of fried garlic. It’s reminiscent of Hawaii’s famous “Garlic Shrimp.”
Single: ¥490~
Value Set: ¥790~

Review

This burger owes a lot to the original Ebi Filet-O, which is already delicious. This new version doesn’t surpass the original. It would be more Hawaiian with some poke sauce, Doritos-like nacho chips, or avocado. I know it’s unrealistic, but just a thought!

Summary – Maotme

They were all tasty, but am I the only one who feels McDonald’s isn’t taking many risks lately? The McRib feels more Hawaiian to me… So, let’s enjoy this summer with McDonald’s limited edition ‘Hawaiian Burgers’ and get a taste of Hawaii. Check out the details and order information on the special site or app. Plus, there are some great deals on offer!
